KENDALL & Co. is known for our area rugs displayed throughout our shop like the true artwork that they are. Each are months in the making by vested artisans, colourists & designers. A craft that bridges cultures and a means to also do good in the world.
Our hand made rugs are certified Fair Trade from socially responsible producers who support their weavers and their families through various empowerment programs.
With the exception of our outdoor rugs and vinyl mats, we feature hand-hooked, hand-tufted and the coveted hand-knotted rugs.
All by special order with quick 2-3 week turnaround from distribution points in North America.
HAND HOOKED
1 - 3 MONTHS TO CRAFT
Creates a relatively lower pile, casual look.
Made by tufting loops of yarn through a stiff woven base, stretched over a frame. The design is printed on the base fabric, and the loops of yarn are pushed through the fabric.
Larger looped rugs create a heavily textured rug while smaller loops allow for greater detail in pattern.
HAND KNOTTED
5 MONTHS TO YEARS TO CRAFT
Most prestigious rug construction for its durability, minimal shedding and highest artistic quality. Only hand knotting by the most skilled can labouriously accomplish the most intricate design details and complex colour variations.
An expert weaver sits behind a loom and hand ties individual knots onto the vertical strings seen on the backside of a rug.
Hand Tufted
3-5 MONTHS TO CRAFT
Creates a Plush and Textured Rug
Made using a Tufting Gun, a hand tool that punches individual strands of fibre into a canvas stretched on a frame. The design of the rug is drawn on the canvas onto which appropriate coloured fibres fill in the pattern. When the rug design is fully piled with sheers by hand, the rug is removed from the frame and a cotton fabric is affixed to the back of the rug to hold the fibre pile in place.

Masterful craftmanship demonstrated in an array of construction techniques. Prized for their unique mixed textures and visual dimensionality. Sized for condos and large home.
Our Heirloom Rugs are made with premium wool (plush, soft, resilient). For those alergic to wool, there are also bamboo (silk like lustre and touch) or jute (stury vegetable fibre).
Our Rugs come in a multitude of standard rectangular dimensions and 8ft long runners. Certain styles also come in various round sizes. Custom size is possible for select styles, upon request, with approx 6 months lead time depending on size.

Compared to our Heirloom Series, this collection of hand made wool rugs offers lighter colours for customers who take a softer sensibility to furnishings or decor. Sizing is also different providing more options for open concept spaces. Exclusive to KENDALL & Co. but inclusive in its appeal. Value priced so everyone can have a rug for every room.

Our Outdoor Collection
Outdoor Rugs unlike any other. Plusher, softer and doubles as indoor rugs for entryway, mudrooms, laundry room and kitchens. Made with Mold and mildew resistant synthetic fibre so safe on wood decks and patios. Simply clean with garden hose or power wash and hang to dry. Range of sizes, colours and patterns.

EASY CARE VINYL MATS
Our latest introduction is no-voc, non-slip Indoor/Outdoor Vinyl Mats in rectangulars, squares, runners and round. 100s of styles and colours. Simply wipe clean with water. All made to order with approx 3-6 weeks turnaround. Custom size available upon request.
OUR QUICK SHIP CUSTOM SIZE RUGS
We also have a line of wool or jute carpets which can be cut into custom size as an area rugs with 3-weeks turnaround. Edge bound by hand with a cotton border in coordinating or contrast color.
