SAVE THE DATE: “Re-ply” @ KENDALL & Co. From June 8-17.

Maquette by Local Young Artist

Re-ply is a multifaceted series of creative projects starting at St. James Town, winding through Cabbagetown and ending in Regent Park. Commissioned by Luminato, Toronto’s premier Festival of Arts and Creativity.

KENDALL & Co is presenting a collection of artwork produced by children participating in this Re-ply project with Toronto artist Dan Bergeron and Luminato’s Education and Outreach department.

Maquette by Local Young Artist

Through workshops in five partner public schools in Regent Park and Cabbagetown, Dan Bergeron invited students in grades 4 & 5 to re-think the meaning of the word ‘Re-ply’ in artistic terms — explaining how art is a response to something – a ‘reply’ to an idea, issue or emotion – while empowering them to playfully and artistically ‘reply’ to forgotten spaces in their own neighbourhoods.

The outcome of these workshops is a collection of wooden maquettes created by the students, featuring photographs of the neighbourhood pasted on the ‘wall’ and the ‘ground’ of each piece, and contain small sculptural installations made with re-purposed materials.
